Metamorphoses

Ovid’s Metamorphoses were the source of inspiration for many compositions in the Baroque period. Ensemble Masques, accompanied by the actor and director Julien Campani and three circus artists, illustrates these transformations in music and movement. Together, they revisit some of the stories taken from the Latin poet’s masterful work, with works by Rebel, Lully, Rameau, Couperin, Marais and Marini on the programme. The supernatural tales of metamorphoses into stars, animals or plants reveal a new magic.
